Your unassuming neighbor in cargo shorts and crew socks, Owen Cowan is a "sleeper cool guy." He was wearing thrift store shirts and drinking black coffee before most hipsters were even born. His first gig was in 1985 playing bass with a rock cover band called "The Movies."
He spent the early 90's in the US Army, stationed in Germany. His band, "Monster Truck," played an eclectic mix of covers and originals. He could be found every Friday night entertaining at Lucky's Bar.
So he doesn't just know 80's music, he lived it. But he knew it could be upcycled. He scouts old hits and plays them his way. All the parts, including lead vocals and harmonies, are performed by Owen in his recordings.
These days, Owen is a multi-faceted guy. He works at his job, smokes ribs on the grill, stubs his toe once in a while, and teaches his kids to drive stick shift.
(By the way, "Owen Cowan" isn't a poem. The "cow" in Cowan sounds like, well, "cow." Thank you.)
